Wether it´s “Uni Kassel Unbefristet” (they fight against limited-time-contracts), the movement at the university of arts, the GEW in Kassel (labour union for academic and teching staff) or the 4-hour-league: The universitys staff of Kassel is organizing more and more. The political students’ body must play the role as the intermediary between the movement and the university. Wether throughout applications in senate, public statements of the students’ parliament or financial and logistic support from the General Students’ Committee, for us it’s clear, that these movements need our full support! Especially since the recent General Students’ Committee’s advance in senate, which led to a wage increase for the student staff, it became obvious, that inside both, the student staff and the mid-level academic staff, there’s a high potential for a wide-ranging and successfull labour dispute! We want a collective agreement for the student staff ,such an fought in Berlin, and a strong academic mid-level faculty!
The DGB campus office of the confederation of unions (DGB) and the General Students’s Committee (AStA) is a valuable facility. This is also absolutely necessary to support.
The restoration occupation of the Villa Rühl left a movement for a social center in Kassel. Slept for a short time, but with new energy awakened the idea of a common political space. Due to its origin in the appropriation of a university building, this movement has a clear student connection. We do not want to give this up. The General Students’s task is to take part in the project of a new social center, as already happened in at the Infoladen an der Halitstraße, as a cooperation partner and to stand as a strong partner the efforts for the establishment of a solidarnary Kassels aside. Should a purchasable object be offered for the establishment of such a free space, then a ballot vote on a financial participation of the students’s body is to be called in the purchase.
The canteen, on the other hand, is an already existing place with potential for social transformation. Students, employees and guests alike should be allowed to eat here at socially acceptable prices, ideally at a standard price. To finance the city of Kassel should be taken as a cooperation partner in the obligation.
In the General Students’ department of social affairs, a comprehensive range of counseling services has been compiled over the years. We support this development. However, there is still a lack of an accessible overview of all counseling services. Here is a web-based overview remedy.
